What We Believe
A lot of times, statements of Christian faith are stated in a way that makes it hard for people to understand what they believe in. Below, I will explain what I believe in a way that will help you understand. Verses are in brackets for your reference.
- God is all powerful, all knowing, timeless, everywhere. (Psalm 135:6, Hebrews 4:13, 2 Peter 3:8, Psalm 139:7)
- God is one and exists as God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:1)
- God created the universe (Genesis 1:1)
- God made humans in His own image (Genesis 1:26-28, 2 Corinthians 13:14)
- God and humans are suppose to be in a healthy relationship where God is the head (John 6:40, 1 John 3:1)
- Humanity turned away from God by not following what God decreed (Romans 1:18-32)
- Humanity is now in a state of condemnation (Romans 1:18-32)
- Humanity can not save itself from condemnation (Isaiah 64:6)
- God in his grace and mercy offers redemption to each human through Jesus dying on the cross and resurrecting (Romans 5:8-9)
- To claim redemption, humans have to believe that what Jesus did will in fact redeem them and to live their life for Him (Romans 10:8-13, 1 Peter 4:2)
- When we are redeemed, God dwells in the believer as the Holy Spirit that enables the believer to follow God even when it seems impossible (Matthew 19:26, Ephesians 1:13-14, Galatians 5:16)
- Believers must keep believing till they die or they will be condemned. (1 Timothy 4:1, Hebrews 12:1-2)
- Jesus will return again, but this time, He will redeem those who believe and condemn those who do not. (Revelation 22:12-15)
- The Bible is the word of God and it is infallible (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
There are some things that might need another post to explain in more detail to get a clearer picture. When I write those up, I will add a link here.
