Moses told his father-in-law everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and Egypt on behalf of Israel. He also told about all the hardships they had experienced along the way and how the Lord had rescued his people from all their troubles. Jethro was delighted when he heard about all the good things the Lord had done for Israel as he rescued them from the hand of the Egyptians.
Exodus 18:8-9
In Exodus 18, Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, comes and visits Moses. Moses tells Jethro everything the Lord had done for his people, the Israelites. Jethro is amazed and rejoices in the Lord.
In fact, Jethro even declares that the Lord is God amd greater than all other Gods (Exodus 18:11). He builds an alter and worships the Lord (Exodus 18:12).
This is amazing since when we first meet Jethro, he was a priest for the Midianites (Exodus 2:16). It was bcause of Moses’ testimony that Jethro believed and started to follow the Lord.
We are all waking with the Lord on our individual journeys. Each day, God gives us new adventures. We are to share what God has done in our lives so that others may believe in the Lord like Jethro.
You might think that there’s nothing special about your testimony because God hasn’t done great miracles in your life like Moses. But that is not true. Each of us is wonderfully and fearfully made (Psalm 139:14). Each of our life stories are unique and praise to God.
What seems ordinary to you may be extraordinary to someone else. So do not hesitate or be afraid to share what God has done and is doing in your life.
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
Psalm 105:1
