Week 3 Day 6: God Always Makes A Way (Exodus 13-15)

By: Jeffrey Wong

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.

Exodus 13:17-18

There were many ways to get to the Promise Land, but God chose the way for the Israelites where they felt confident and secure. It was longer, but definitely safer. This proves vital as the Israelites lose faith moments later.

When Pharaoh decided to pursue the Israelites in chapter 14, the Israelites definitely panicked. They complained to Moses that they it was better to stay in Egypt than to die out here in the desert (Exodus 14:10-12).

The Israelites faith quickly wavered despite God just performing 10 miracles in the whole nation of Egypt to get then out of Egypt in the first place. They felt trapped with no where to turn due to the Red Sea blocking any way of escape.

But God is faithful and he made a way for them by making a path of dry ground through the Red Sea.

We must have faith in God and trust what He has decided for us. His decisions are always best for us and He is faithful. Follow Him wherever He leads you. He will always watch over you and take care of you, even if there is no way.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
